Amanda Gunter, MS, FNP
Amanda Gunter is an AANP board-certified nurse practitioner who joined Dr. McKenzie in April 2016. A lifelong resident of Oconee County and graduate of Oconee County High School, she earned an Associate’s degree in nursing from Excelsior College and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Piedmont College. Her experience as an RN includes cardiovascular, cardiology, neuro ICU, medical ICU, long-term acute care, and teaching.
In 2013, Amanda earned her Master’s degree and certification as a family nurse practitioner from the University of North Georgia, graduating with distinction. Her clinical training included pediatrics, women’s health, and providing care to sugar cane workers in the Dominican Republic. Her last two semesters of clinical training were in primary care/internal medicine with Dr. McKenzie.
From 2013 to 2016, Amanda served as a traveling nurse practitioner in multiple locations around Georgia, giving her experience in family medicine, internal medicine, interventional pain management, urgent care, and occupational medicine. She has a passion for disease prevention, chronic disease management to prevent complications, and patient education. Her goal is to work with her patients to help them achieve their optimal state of health.
Amanda and Dr. McKenzie work closely together and generally alternate seeing patients from one visit to the next. Amanda sees patients for follow-up visits, acute visits, physicals, and minor procedures.
